It is a very convenient for me that no one has really every figured out the plural of the word aspargus.
The reason being my asparagus bed only produces one asparagus a year.
A purple one. I did plant purple but I planted about 4 dozen.
This one has been coming back now for ten years.
The photo below was taken on May 11 as the lone asparagus began emerging.
That giant plant next to it is a violet.
The photo below was taken one week later.
The asparagus is now taller than the violet.
The plant behind it is a lovage.
I never pick my one asparagus. I always let it grow to the fern stage.
I will post the photo when it is larger than the lovage and then again when it has its’ red berries.
